Why do dog groomers put bandanas on dogs?

Its a question I get asked alot. There are a few answers that come to mind.

My customers give them away mainly as a complimentary gift. Just like when we were children and we got a lollipop perhaps after having our hair cut. But they are so much than that.

Although not every dog owner appreciates the gesture, there are just as many who do love them. The same can be said for dog groomers. You either love them or hate them.

My favourite story was from a customer of mine a while ago. The dog she used to groom had passed over the rainbow bridge. The owner had made a patchwork style cushion cover, using all the bandanas he had been given at every groom. How sweet is that? If you have a story you would like to share please drop a comment below. I would love to hear it.

I know I am biased, but I think every dog looks fabulous in a bandana. They are fun and with so many fabrics to choose from. There is a bandana for every dog. They are also really eye-catching when using them to create posts for your socials. With a fun and bright bandana on a beautifully groomed dog it can also open up the chance to promote your business to other dog owners in the local area too.

Bandanas are a great conversation starter. Dog owners tend to be friendly people and advertising by word of mouth is priceless. You can also tie your branding into bandanas. From choosing colours or designs that compliment your brand and you can also get them with your logo and contact details on. How better to showcase your work? when a dog you have groomed is proudly strutting its stuff around the local parks.

As a dog owner, they can also be really useful to us after their groom. Bandanas are perfect to spray with calming sprays to help with nervous or anxious dogs. They can also be damped slightly when its warm to help keep our dogs cool.

My bandanas are made from a fabric called poly-cotton. It's the same fabric used to make duvets covers, clothing etc. This makes it a durable fabric and that's needed when making bandanas for dogs. Bandanas are also becoming more popular because many dogs simply don't wear a collar any more, with many wearing a harness.

Finally, bandanas are not only great for advertising and promotions, they are low cost and budget friendly. With prices starting from just 8p a bandana, it's better value than a business card that can easily be tucked away and remain unseen.

Most of all though, bandanas are just fun and it always raises a smile when a dog is wearing one. Especially if its a real fun design that suits their character. I always make sure that every bundle includes designs that are bold and fun and you can see the latest designs here.

Our regular dogs actually wait for their bandana going on and once they are all gorgeous they strut their stuff about the salon 🤣
